South East Glasgow Surface Water Management Plan Progressing in Croftfoot

Enabled by funding from the Glasgow City Region City Deal - www.glasgowcityregion.co.uk - the South East Glasgow Surface Water Management Plan (SWMP) has works taking place in Croftfoot, Kings Park, Overwood Drive and Aikenhead Road, that include installation of improved drainage infrastructure, construction of rain garden features and improvements to public spaces.

At Croftfoot Primary School the provision of retrofit surface water management features includes a swale, geocellular storage below a new MUGA pitch, and an exceedance amphitheatre area. Attenuated surface water from the school will be disconnected from the combined sewer and discharged to the Spittal Burn culvert once further enabling works are completed.

The project commenced works on site in July 2019 and is forecast to be complete October 2020.

In February, an event was held to formally recognise the completion of the works at Croftfoot Primary School - further information is available here - https://glasgow.gov.uk/article/25611/Playful-Pupils-Benefit-from-City-Deal-Project-to-Reduce-Flood-Risk
