The South Dalmarnock Masterplan provides a vision that aims to unlock the development potential of the area by adopting long term and sustainable approaches to infrastructure development and in particular urban drainage issues.
The latest and final work package of the scheme, is the £3m delivery of green infrastructure and sustainable drainage on an existing vacant/derelict site to support development within South Dalmarnock, completing key drainage, roads, and services connections to service adjacent development plots to stimulate local business development and encourage investment; and to apply sustainability measures and minimise carbon emissions.
The project, funded by Clyde Gateway, Scottish Government (through the Vacant and Derelict Land Investment Programme) and Nature Restoration Fund, creates a new riverside park and raingardens.
Glasgow based contractor, RJ McLeod, have been onsite since December 2021 delivering 2km of upgraded active travel routes, 1ha of new greenspace, including 4,870sqm of planting, 45 trees, 1km of new drainage infrastructure, and upgrades to a section of the National Cycle Route along the river Clyde including new lighting.
The project, which will complete in September 2022, connects the developments in Dalmarnock with the River Clyde and supports the delivery of 14,250sqm of commercial office space and 150 residential units across 3.5 hectares of vacant/derelict land.
